A Tale Untold

The sharpness of a broken wave

Angrily splashing against the shore

The remnants of these feelings

I still hope for you and I

My feelings left untold

You knew the extent of me

Yet I think you misunderstood

I blame myself for letting go

To think of you seldom

Or simply not at all

I wonder how it came to be

That the poet is now the poetry

A book on a shelf

Like an old man's wise tale

A what-if wonder

Like a forbidden love story

A slow burn indeed

Not only in how it started

Even so how it came to end

You set alight the flame

Maybe you're an arsonist

Up in flames

Surrounded by smoke

There flew the ashes

From the pages of our untold love story

Let not the flames burn your soul

But may the words suffocate you

Disintegrating allegory
