Anchors Aweigh

Do you ever feel the need to let go

Not because of something wrong but rather

for the simple fact that they never held on

You feel a tug deep in your heart 

It's like an anchor trying to keep you there

Every time you start to pull away

you remember the anchor and the weight it holds

The worst part is, you knew that when you met them

they wouldn’t be there forever

And you knew at some point that it would hurt

when they were no longer by your side

And even though you could try to lure them back

who’s to say they wouldn't leave once more
