Persistence of Memory

I look for you in the corners of every room

In the shadows lurking under streetlights

In the cars passing by

In the stores you once loved

These broken shoes don't carry me like they use to

And the new ones don't fit quite like they should

Broken pieces of my soul lead the way as

My heart weaves a web only meant for you

Everything looks the same but in a darker shade

Places still exist but the laughter isn't there

Time moves slow and aches with every move

Conversations cater to silence and dead ends

A silence where the memory of you exists

A dead end where the home of you and I still stands

A vacancy from an eviction or maybe a death

A pain that hides in every make shift smile
