Sea of Sirens

She lived in solitude
Alone in a house meant for another
Down a long private driveway
A charming garden around the corner
Where the frigid river steadily flowed
Like the sentiment in her heart
She held onto so firmly
Love letters covered her bedroom
Ones she meant to send, stacked in piles high
Most she never quite finished
For, the love story she made inside her head
Had only a subtle beginning
No true ending
A story she hoped to someday finish
Where two souls would flourish into one
But who really has it in them to let go
To let go of something so pure and so real
Feelings don't always change
It's the people they're meant for that do
Quite honestly maybe it's better that way
To hold onto the feeling
Not the person
Because when that person changes
The feeling will get buried in an unforgivable pain
Memories so deep they can become a heavy burden
She relived the feelings she had in those moments
The moments she spent realizing not all things come
By searching and fighting for a better companion
But that the deepest of feelings lie in the moments you expect it the least
With the people you find yourself thinking about day in and out, yearning to speak with
With the person you call first
The one you find comfort in
I think she knew she would never find him again
It didn’t matter how many letters she attempted to write
She could never bring herself to search
To send for him would be to send for a dead man
For, he was long gone in a sea of sirens
She knew not of why he vanished
She would hope it was meant to be
Together, hidden from all abnormities
