I sit outside at night, listening to the howling of the wind

I think of all the times we went out late to count the stars

We would meet halfway between where you lived and I would stay

Most often it was late enough for us to lay out in the middle of the road

You looked so perfect under the moonlight and you felt so warm next to me

Sometimes you would reach out and gently touch my hand and

All I could think about was how I never wanted that moment to end

I can still remember times when you looked nervous because I couldn’t stop staring at you

Moments in which you would blush and turn the other way

Only to hide that charming smile of yours

But between the shining of the stars and the glimmer in your eyes

There was this certain feeling that could almost be seen just as much as it was felt

I could tell you truly loved me just by the way you would look at me

A look with such intense feeling that any living soul would assume

For as it would be written in the stars

That you would love me until the end of time

But we never really talked about the future

And looking back now maybe its something we should have done

Because those long star-lit nights didn't last forever and neither did that glimmer

Something changed in you and the stars didn’t shine as bright anymore
